〈 TRIVIA / HEADCANONS / TIMELINES 〉

I. 1989-2008: CHILDHOOD/TEENS
- Allison used her powers all the time as a child
- Much like small children are often naive, unknowing, monsters, she frequently used it her powers small ways, especially to get what she wanted or in the middle of snappish fights, ala "I heard a rumor you gave me your orange juice" and "I heard a rumor you just shut up now."
- She used them all the time to get out of training (* pilot script ) & to manipulate her father. The largest result of this was that Reginald/The Monocle did send a killer after then fourteen-year-old Rumor to teach her a lesson about manipulating him (* "…But the Past Ain't Through With You" ).
- Allison has always loved her powers and everything they could do. She never had in her childhood regretted what her powers could do to the will of another in her daily life in the Academy or a fight. She relished every bit of it, loving to play on people's assumptions of her as a 'Good Little School Girl' in her uniform, who could then open her mouth and turn them into her puppets, ordering them to kill themselves or those near them, in as slow or fast a fashion as she chose.
- Luther & Allison Duo Headcanons
- Allison has never once thought of Luther as her brother. (To the same important degree, while Allison did come to be certain of what her feelings for Luther were, she never became entirely clear about his feelings for her. Especially at their end.)
- Luther is the only one Allison hasn't used her powers on (outside of mandated regimental training of her powers by The Monocle in home-based training situations), and this is why she considers him the only person who truly knows her and still likes her.
- Luther and Allison always had their own means of communication (cans with string strung across their back windows; windows open whispering across the small space; the music Luther played through the walls; morose code taps made against the wall separating their rooms)
- While learning to manage his strength early on, Luther did break one of Allison's jewelry boxes.
- Allison's secret spot, where she went to brood or fume, depending on her mood, was the window in the attic of the Umbrella Academy. The only person she allowed to share it with her, from time to time, was Luther.
- Luther is one of the only people who has ever 'managed' Allison's temper, past to present. He turtles his head, ducks his shoulders, and waits her out until she answers him. Because she always does.
- Allison kept her word that " [she'd] never take it off" where it came to the locket, and (until leaving the Academy) she wore it under both her school uniform and her Rumor uniform every single day of the rest of the time she was home. On the rare times when Allison got caught up in her thoughts she could be found absently holding it or fidgeting with it.
- Allison was the last person to leave the house, and when she was preparing to move out, she asked Luther to leave with her; he initially said yes, but when the eventual day came, he panicked and turned her down. ( * )
- Allison has been just as competitive as One and Two since she was a child, and she was caught cheating at cards and monopoly as a means to winning in her childhood.
- Allison tried to wish Five & Ben back. Allison's desperately wishing at Ben's body, "I heard a rumor you could never leave us," is why Ben is ~different~ from the other ghosts. Even if no one, including Allison, believed Klaus since no ones thinking Ben is next to Klaus until that concert reveal.
- Diego and Allison got along until their teenage years when Luther & Allison's burgeoning emotional relationship (/much more Number One's reliance and choosing of Number Three over Number Two as his confident and personal best friend basically) caused them to become as incredibly combative at the drop of a hat. A thing which never changed from then on.
- Allison's competitive nature and, almost unstoppable, independence has meant that she's never truly understood or considered being compassionate toward Number Four's terror at his powers, his refusal to work at overcoming those fears, or his quick slide avoidance into drugs from their earliest teens.
- Allison's temper has always been a scratching thing, both verbally and violently. She acts in either like a punch dagger, exceedingly specific, sharp, aimed clearly, ruthlessly, and unapologetically for the deepest hurt in the shortest amount of time.
- 'Sweet' Memories. Like in the comics, the reward The Monocle granted them for a 'good enough' job in the field was to treat them to ice cream. Occasionally, the children also snuck out of the house to 'Grady's Donuts' and ate their fill.
- She was once held hostage, gagged, and tortured by Dr. Terminal. (* Apocalypse Suite)
- Allison started getting requests/invitations for more interviews, magazines, tiny modeling shoots from her early teens. Her father turned down everything except the most necessary and was always there, always answering the questions they asked her. For her, or had expectations on what she was allowed to say. The Monocle was heartless, helicopter parent of the year over Allison's already being too mouthy and opinionated to him.
- Much of this caused further stymied feelings about wanting to get out more, in the limelight, to act. To knowing she just had to reach adulthood. The world was waiting for her and wanted her already. This is why when Allison & Luther had finally settled on when to leave it was to go for an official audition for Allison in Hollywood.
II. 2009-2019: MODEL, SUPERSTAR, WIFE, & MOTHER
- Allisons first two years in Hollywood were made up of three main things.
- The first, that Allison used her powers to get anything she felt she needed (and often ran into the situations of not knowing what she truly needed, because of her sheltered upbringing). This pertained to getting jobs, housing, making friends, getting rid of annoyances.
- The second, she was often manipulated for both her hunger to be an actress and her naivety about the world. This second lead to very, very bad things happening to people once she realized how much she'd been played or used.
- The third, a string of people Allison flew through, looking for nearly anyone to truly care or want her, trying to fill the void in her existence caused by Luther's choice on the day she left.
- While Allison did 'rumor' her way into several tv appearances and movie roles in her first years, given there is no way to rumor the world through a screen, her stardom was caused by the caliber of her talent once she buckled down into the thing she'd wanted to do the last half-decade of her life.
- Allison did not do drugs in the world of the bright lights. Scotch, sure. Cigarettes, only rarely ever, under a lot of stress, and she gave them up for good when she found out she was pregnant with Claire and ended up re-picking up that habit during her divorce and the subsequent dealing with losing her kid. She smokes very rarely, and only when alone. (Watching Klaus' slide into addiction made this a no brainer for her.)
- Allison hated Vanya's book more than all of the rest of her siblings. Not because Vanya's tell-all did her any more dirty than the rest (Vanya had actually been incredibly lenient in never mentioning her 'close' friendship with Luther once), but due to the fact every interview she took for the year it was published droned on and on about questions from it, or new tidbit and tabloid questions related to it and recent Vanya interviews/Q&A sessions on her book tour.
- Unforunately, Allison is very used to being barraged by interviewers and street paparazzi about her family. It's happened every single time anything notable happened to any of her siblings, as the world kept following all of them around. Every time Klaus ended up in rehab or jail. When Diego washed out of the Academy, and the times after, he ended up in jail. When Luther was announced as going to the moon to protect the planet from all harm.
- Allison's deepest regrets are as follows: Losing Claire. Losing Luther. Not truly regretting anything she did as The Rumor in her childhood, because she knows in her bones how much she truly loved what she did as The Rumor, how she did it, and how good at it she was. In that order.
- Patrick Pieces
- Allison has compared every man in her life to Luther, and come up wanting, but Patrick came in the closest in her early twenties. While she did love him, it was not the same kind of love she'd had and lost before him. But, more importantly, she'd felt wanted, loved, and chosen by him. Which mattered. A lot.
- Patrick is the one who led Allison to say, "I heard a rumor you love me," not the other way around. Because of this, and many other things, while Patrick may doubt his feelings and whether she'd come to manipulate them at some point, Allison has never doubted Patrick truly loved her. (* Hotel Oblivion)
- Allison vacillates in a space between her pro-touch and anti-touch siblings, while she has had more physical contact than most of her siblings, she still deeply internalized never being able to touch for nearly two decades of her life. She can touch people now, kiss, have sex, hold hands, hug/hold freely. But she can't stand to be touched when she's angry. It's the fastest way to piss her off even more. Like you've crossed into a bubble you aren't allowed to be in. Because no one's allowed to touch her, don't you know better.
- Allison & Figuring Out Holidays (Circa 2019 Thanksgiving | * )
- Allison being both secular and from a family that really wasn't, never really put any new focus into figuring out these holidays once she left the Academy. Give the prevalence for people complaining about them, and the stress they caused everyone, there wasn't even much curiosity.
- Plus, yes, especially during her earlier breakout years, please, do pay her 3-4 times her regular daily rate to do day-long shooting on these holidays that aren't anything but normal days to her.
- She and Patrick had some tiny normal early relationship skirmishes about this. Where it was important to him, which made it sort of important to her, but not really. More of a "sure, honey" pat-pat. Some that she was there for, some that she wasn't, or that she scheduled over without thinking about or thinking to ask. Because they aren't.
- While she got pulled a little more into it after they married, and things with Patrick's family, Patrick's traditions, it's when Claire comes along that there's a lot of the early big first shifts to it. Watching Claire grow up in it, and love it, with that big, pure childlike innocence. Building their own actual family traditions.
- Eight months before Season One, Allison got divorced from her husband, who won full custody due to her rumoring her daughter. Allison's sensationalism as a powerful and lasting force in the news is shown when in the first few episodes, we still see front page articles, staring Patrick & Claire (saying 'They're Fine!'), even eight months later. ( * )
III. MASK OR MENACE SPECIFIC, ROUND I
- Allison lost both her voice and her powers, as well as enough blood she nearly died, the day before Season One ended (and thus exactly one day before she came to Mask or Menace, too). She still has the scar on her throat, though most of the time, it is covered with high-grade, professional, movie makeup.
- The Mental Network (April 2019 - present)
- Unexpectedly (to the player and Allison) through Jacob Taylor, Allison discovered at her Lunar-Base Swear-In, that the network communication of this new world, also, had a mental component to it. Allison uses it for speech most of the time, but it is not without its flaws. Allison's "written-speech" is usually formal, very pared down, and double-checked meticulously. They are messages that are composed and sent just like text messages, only she's learned how to write/send them with a thought.
- Allison is not as fussy as she once was about using The Mental Network with everyone she passes. However, there are still times and situations she'll keep it close to the chest, or even decide not to inform people she has it.
- Allison and Luther have a bad habit of talking to each other through it across rooms where other people, including their family, are having discussions with them. Like a conversation of their own layered on top of the others.
- The Only Appearances of Allison able to talk since April 2019
- In May 2019; The Dream Event took place in everyone's head. For limited appearances, since it was a shared dreamspace, Allison could talk.
- In December 2019; During Holiday Hijinks Allison body swapped with the Archangel Gabriel. She was able to speak while inside his body, while he was rendered mute (and dependent on a note pad, or the Mental Network) while in hers.
- In January 2020; During the Capes & Cowls AU an alternate universe version of Allison had come to this world at nineteen, so she'd never experienced any of her last near twenty years or the events in canon.
- In May 2020; During Wild Fey Magic Allison reverted in both mind and body to the age of thirteen, during which her body was no longer wounded, rendering her able to talk (without remembering there was a time she couldn't).
- Due to Dream Plot in May 2019, Allison (and Luther) are both aware the Diego is the person who deactivated Mom and then lied about it. ( * )
- Allison is almost always wearing two pieces of jewelry.
(The only exception for this is usually when it's necessary for her job.) - In April 2019, Allison acquired a 'Glove Gem,' and two months after, she had the gem extracted and set into a bracelet. The Glove Gem contains a personal pocket dimension. While the contents change as needed, she always has a notepad and a pen, in case she needs them for communicating.
- In October 2019, the Hargreeves all celebrated their 30th birthday, and Luther gave Allison a second gold locket. It is currently unengraved. ( * )
- In May 2019, at Allison's behest, the family moved into a large house together. When most of the family ported out at the beginning of 2020, Luther and Allison moved into a smaller place. The larger house is still being rented out, in case they ever need it again.
- Vanya & Allison had been going out for coffee or drinks one to two times a week their first months in the new world until early 2020. During the time while Vanya was held at Aegis, Allison spent the whole time of confinement with her.
- Claire Game Appearances/Involvements
- In May 2019, during the Dream Event, Allison's memory of the day in court where she lost Claire was shared with Luther & Diego. ( * )
- In July 2019, Allison passed the first anniversary of losing her daughter, but only Luther was aware of it. ( * )
- In October 2019, Claire appeared on the Ghost Train. She was also seen by Harry Dresden (whose daughter was also present). ( * )
- In May 2020, during Tech Expo's Psychic Attack, Luther was able to see a scattered collection of memories from Claire's early years. ( * )
- In July 2020, Allison passed the second anniversary of losing her daughter, and Luther takes her out stargazing to make it easier. ( * )
- Exactly eight months after coming to Mask or Menace, Allison returns to seeing a therapist occasionally. ( * )
- Allison arrives in Dallas on June 7th, 1961.
- Allison's voice starts coming back to her in the summer of 1962.
- Allison & Ray are married somewhere in the November-December range of 1923.
- In October 2020, returning from the three-week FractureWorld!AU, Allison receives a power upgrade & downgrade. Her reality manipulation powers revert back to the powers she was born with, while the Super Star umbrella reduces down simply to the Super Star of Enchantment power.
- Claire Game Appearances/Involvements II
- In Aug 2020, when Allison returns to the game from Dallas, it's with two more anniversary's under her belt, and four years since she's seen her daughter, including two and half in which she never told anyone about her.
- In Sept 2020, during the AU!Fractured 2020, Allison adopts a war orphan baby, names her Claire, and Luther & she raise her as their daughter on Krakoa. ( * ) || In Oct 2020, MoM!Allison hears about this version of Claire from Ken Kaneki. ( * )
